Mission Statement

GPB Ranch strives to preserve a balance of: Tradition, Fellowship, and Quality while returning home to the heart of horse

Our Story

Gary and Paula Burns founded GPB Ranch Enterprises in 2013 with the hope of building a quality performance horse ranch around a top broodmare and breeding program. They are both avid equestrians. Paula grew up riding horses through the local 4H program and started showing at an early age showing all around. She then expanded her equine experience under the tutelage of Texas A & M Extension Program led by B.F. Yates. She has participated in a variety of equestrian activities, ranging from barrel racing to natural horsemanship to reining and has always had a passion for the horse.

Paula is a Co Owner of Insurance One Agency, the Woodlands Office and is the Vice President of Risk Management for Insurance One Agency Corporate.

Gary Burns developed a passion for horses later in life and leads our breeding program. He graduated from University of Houston in Safety and Industrial Hygiene and is the Global Safety Manager for Weatherford Oil Company and the anchor of our GPB Ranch Team.

Our TEAM

Team GPB revolves around employees with a wide variety of backgrounds and talents.  We focus and pride ourselves on being horsemen and women first and competitors second.  While GPB Ranch is primarily focused on the sport of reining most of our employees compete, have competed in, or work in other areas within the equine industry…including barrel racing, ranching, roping, all around, and even english events.  All of our team has been active competitors within the industry, but we all strive to focus on the health and enjoyment of the horse at the core of our program.

Shevin Haverty

Shevin’s experience ranges from sales (particularly sale prepping and selling yearlings) to showing to the breeding barn.  Shevin is the daughter of Dr. Steve Schwartzenberger, DVM, and Dr. Dori Schwartzenberger, Ph.D.  Her parents and sister, Sharee Schwartzenberger, run Schwartzenberger Equine, a reining training and breeding facility in Longmont, Colorado.  Shevin has amassed over $100,000 in NRHA money earnings over her show career and has several NRHA Championships and titles to her name. She hopes to continue her success as a professional and belongs to both the NRHA and AQHA Professional Organizations.  Shevin’s passion for the industry lies within its history and the day to day activities of carrying for and working with the people and horses at the ranch.
